Sharayah's world.

Sharayah sent me this picture from her job tonight. Tonight it's a beautiful wedding reception. She works at a historic ballroom in Indianapolis. My mom remembers her older(handsome) brothers going there to dance in the 30s and 40s. Here 3 generations later is my daughter....from California...working in the same place.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She was able to bring home some of the flowers from the reception...She loaded her room down. She loves flowers. I used to have to stop her from picking all of the neighbors blooming flowers and any public restaurant that had flowers. She would be out there collecting a bouquet at a young age. lol She said the hall was filled with various types of bright flowers.
I Love My Job!
What Makes Up a *Perfect* Morning She called this a perfect morning...English tea tray with fresh flowers...
California Grey Coyote
Curious Coyote Facts
Only 5-20% of coyote pups survive their first year.The coyote can run at almost 40 mph and can get over a 8' fence.Coyotes can breed with both domestic dogs and wolves. A dog-coyote mix is called a "coydog."The coyote is more likely afraid of you than vice-versa.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The other day I was walking along happily and in my path on the sidewalk was a wild coyote. It didn't move. It stood there and stared at me. I wasn't sure if I was suppose to be afraid or if it would eventually turn and run the other way. I tried to shoo it. It didn't respond. I was thinking about rabies and dog bites. haha No one was around. Everyone was asleep. It was just me and the coyote. I decided not to turn around and go back and kept walking towards it. Finally he turned around on the path and started going ahead of me looking back now and then. I kept walking....there was a curve with bushes and I was afraid he would be around the corner. But, he took off. I had an adrenaline rush and weak knees...but, I was determined to keep walking. I'm a big scaredy cat. lol
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I like to walk at 6am in the morning. I try to walk an hour a day and that way I am back to wake up my kids for school at 7am. One reason I like it is because the world is quiet....the breeze is cool. There are usually the same one or two people out walking or jogging. Later by 8am there are a good number of people jogging or walking. I like the solitude of the early morning to meditate and create and listen to my praise music and talk to God. We live in the hills next to the Canyons and Mountains. There are several types of creatures that live there. We have coyote, mountain lions, deer, and a neighborhood fat rabbit that I see almost daily under one bush or the other. It's neat and it's scarey. I love walking here in California.
A Good Time Was Had By All!!
My 'Parentals'~Mom & Dad Davis~ us took us out to eat today to enjoy a stress-free Holiday..(-minus Corona traffic=headache-drove 14 miles in 1-1/2 hours). We went to San Bernadino to Castaways'. It's a very lovely mountain top restaurant with a great view for miles and miles. They had everything imaginable. It is buffet style and each part of the room is a theme. Traditional Thanksgiving, a carving station with Prime Rib, Ham and Turkey, Mexican food, Sea Food with chilled shrimp, crab legs, smoked salmon, sushi, salad bar, dessert bar, breakfast station to have a hot omelet or waffles, Pasta...Cappicino...etc... So, we ate all we could...then we went to our clean homes with no work to take a nap. lol You can't overeat if there are no left overs. So, that part is good also. lol Thanks to my parents for a lovely family meal. They took us there for Christmas last year...it's always good.
I had baked several pies and desserts and had my cousins the Comptons and their pastor friends from Michigan here at 6pm for a good time of fellowship and dessert. The kids(6) had a fun time playing together and we(adults) talked all of our words out. lol We had a lovely day and we feel truly blessed to have family and friends around us--supportive and loving. If you have friends....you are the riches of men. :-)
Happy Thanksgivng To You All!
**A Texan friend (Dora) has been sharing some of her delicious southern recipes on Facebook. The food I had in the south for the holidays was always the best. I'm sure it was passed down by the early settlers and is a more authentic recipes we try to copy but have lost some ingredients that make it rich...the South has many influences...ie English or Scottish & French and many other exciting cultures mixed together....in other parts of the U.S. seems the foods start getting bland and mellowed and tasteless. lol My imagination was caught up in the descriptions Dora made of the ingredients. Especially the Chutney....I was very intriged about this recipe. My sister Alexa makes a delicious fresh Cranberry Dish for Thanksgiving....Maybe I'll post that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
PUMPKIN CRUMBLE CAKE

2 cups pumpkin puree
1 can (12-oz) evaporated milk
4 eggs
1 1/2 cup white sugar
2 tsps pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp salt
1 pkg (18.5 size) plain yellow cake mix
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup butter (I use 1 1/2 sticks)
Whipped cream as a topper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Spray baking dish with cooking spray

Combine pumpkin, milk, eggs, sugar, pie spice, salt.
Mix well and spread in baking dish

Sprinkle the cake mix over the top of the pumpkin mixture
Then sprinkle the chopped pecans over that.
Then slice pats of butter to cover the top.

Bake for about an hour.

After the cake cools, serve with a dollop of fresh whipped cream

Cranberry Chutney 1 & 2

Share

Use one large pot and one medium.

In the medium pot:

Heat a little olive oil in the bottom of the pot
Dice:
One medium onion
One red bell pepper
One serano pepper (use a teaspoon to remove seeds)
One piece fresh ginger root (dice very small)

Saute the above ingredients until the onions are transparent

In the large pot:

Follow the recipe for simple syrup on the package of fresh cranberries
I use two packages

Peel and dice two large apples
Start with two cups sugar and two cups water
Bring to a rolling boil and pour in the cranberries and apples
The cranberries will begin bursting and lend their beautiful color to the syrup and apples

Lower the heat then...

Using a ladle, Add half the apples and cranberries to the medium pot (with the onions, bell pepper, etc.),
Add 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper

In the bigger pot, add 1/4 cup shredded coconut, 1/2 cup pecan pieces, 1/2 cup crushed pineapple
1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper

You may want to add more sugar to these...let cool, taste, you can always turn the heat up and add more sugar.

Serve chutney with turkey, chicken, ham. Great with cheese, baked brie, salad

So, I drank water as they enjoyed the super large chocolate  cake. haha     Nice being with family tonight.    My Stepsister, Glenna was there with her son Logan. They live in Arizona-her husband was in Florida. A good time was had by all!!!

Daily Scripture

The Psalms 64

A Prayer for Protection from Hidden Enemies
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
1
Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer:
preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

2
Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked;
from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

3
who whet their tongue like a sword,
and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

4
that they may shoot in secret at the perfect:
suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

5
They encourage themselves in an evil matter:
they commune of laying snares privily;
they say, Who shall see them?

6
They search out iniquities;
they accomplish a diligent search:
both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.

7
But God shall shoot at them with an arrow;
suddenly shall they be wounded.

8
So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves:
all that see them shall flee away.

9
And all men shall fear,
and shall declare the work of God;
for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

10
The righteous shall be glad in the LORD,
and shall trust in him;
and all the upright in heart shall glory.

Happy Birthday Dad Davis

Today is my step fathers birthday. (Rev. Howard Davis) I called and wished him happy birthday early this morning and mom had made a big country breakfast and gave him gifts. We'll be celebrating with them tomorrow at his party. He has taken great care of my mom and they are so energetic and love to travel and have several projects going at one time...whether it be building something or redecorating. They have fun together.

Drink to your health.....

I'm sitting here drinking my Green Smoothie for breakfast. (notice the computer pix above.lol) I put lots of spinach, some kale, carrots, organic coconut, green apple, red apple, and a frozen banana, flax seed and a little stevia. I tried to be simple to not have a yucky taste like the last time when I put a whole stock of LEEKS! That was hard to drink. No fruit to balance the acid taste. This one today is not too bad. My husband likes it...he likes anything that is healthy. The boys weren't so thrilled. Hopefully I can get them used to it. I'm glad I discovered that it is legal to add fruit to the green. HA I'm getting better at it or more accustomed to the taste. The thing that excites me about it-is that it is an anti-cancer fighting machine. If your body is acidic you will become deceased. But, if it is alkaline...that is the optimum for your health. Vegetables will make your body alkaline. I have these little testing strips the doctor gave me. And so far I'm "okay" but not in the "great" zone. I'm aiming for the best! Well, as you can see I have my Ipod on and my cap so I need to head out the door for my walk. Talk to you all later.

My New Hobby~Green Smoothies.....

The last 2 months I've been working on perfecting the Green Smoothie. Everything I read says it is the healthiest thing you can do for your body. All of the great nutrients in raw foods~plus flax seed....well, my first ones were horrid. I almost gave up...but I realized it was all green veggies and it's good to add fruits to cut the acidic taste that I didn't like with the Kale, Spinach, Leeks and other veggies... I love fruit smoothies--but I'm working on getting more greens in daily. So, each one gets a little better. I'm hoping to be loving it soon. lol If anyone has any tips on making a great Green Smoothie...let me know. I've had a vita mix for years and I love it.

California Fires

Tonight we returned home from a wonderful district meeting in San Diego and discovered the SoCal fires were very close to home. Several freeways were closed down. So far our STWC members and friends are safe. Several have been evacuated or went to stay with people at a safe distance. But, it is very scarey to be this close. I couldn't go to sleep thinking what if it got to my door and I wouldn't realize the danger. I'm home alone....everyone is gone--so, I took my dog so she wouldn't be afraid....I drove just a few miles from the house and could see the mountains on fire in Yorba Linda/Brea. It's really hard to feel relaxed and calm....I feel like I need to be in contact with our members and checking to be sure everyone is okay. My son is at a retreat in the moutains...I pray for his safety. My other son is spending the night with friends. So, I'm here thinking....what in the world would I grab-if they knock on my door to evacuate....I wouldn't know where to start. Maybe my laptop and purse would be a place to start????? It's too morbid a thought. We will continue to pray for God's intervention.

Written in Stone....

Stone

TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING THROUGH THE DESERT

DURING SOME POINT OF THE JOURNEY,

THEY HAD AN ARGUMENT; AND ONE FRIEND

SLAPPED THE OTHER ONE

IN THE FACE .....

THE ONE WHO GOT SLAPPED WAS HURT,

BUT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING,

WROTE IN THE SAND...

TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE!

~~~
THEY KEPT ON WALKING,UNTIL THEY FOUND AN OASIS,
WHERE THEY DECIDED TO TAKE A BATH
THE ONE WHO HAD BEEN SLAPPED GOT STUCK IN THE MIRE!
AND STARTED DROWNING, BUT THE FRIEND SAVED HIM.
AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM THE NEAR DROWNING,
HE WROTE ON A STONE:
"TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE"
~~~~~~~~

THE FRIEND WHO HAD SLAPPED AND SAVED HIS BEST FRIEND

ASKED HIM,

"AFTER I HURT YOU,YOU WROTE IN THE SAND AND NOW,

YOU WRITE ON A STONE, WHY?"

THE FRIEND REPLIED......

"WHEN SOMEONE HURTS US WE SHOULD WRITE IT DOWN IN SAND,

WHERE WINDS OF FORGIVENESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY.

BUT, WHEN SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING GOOD FOR US,

WE MUST ENGRAVE IT IN STONE WHERE NO WIND CAN EVER ERASE IT"

LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND

AND TO

CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.

Bon Voyage....

I took my husband to the airport at about 5am this morning. He's flying back to Indianapolis to spend the day with Sharayah. IBC is having a Pastor's Banquet Tuesday Evening. So, he will be able to go to class with Sharayah on Tuesday and spend some "quality" time with her. It's 7:30am and I've already had my hour walk, cooked breakfast and I'm getting ready to take the boys to school.

Happy Birthday to my sister Priscilla...

**Priscilla is the little blond at the end.....
Today is my sister Priscilla's 51st birthday. I love my "little" sister. She may be 7 years older...but she is the official baby of the family. I took her place after she was already well set in the baby position for 7 years. So, I acknowledge the baby position is hers. lol Love you Priscilla....

Winter is coming....I love this time of year!

I talk to Sharayah daily and get the news on what is new in her world. And I have her send me cell pictures of her and her friends to keep up on her day. We get to talk live on Skype and you feel like you are with each other each day for a little bit. She says it's getting very cold in Indiana and she's having to bundle up in Winter jacket, scarf, tights...warm clothes and boots. New for her...because here in Cali...we rarely use wool coats. I never do. It's hard to imagine when our days are still up in the 80s here in Cali. I haven't had a fire in the fireplace yet so far. :-( Loving the cool morning air to walk in. Today I walked an hour in mist/rain and it felt awesome.

~~The picture above is of her while out shopping for her uniform at work. She has to wear black and white. :-)~~

Sharayah has been going to nursing home ministry on Sunday Mornings in Indy and she made a new friend...Mignon Taylor...they call her Sis. Taylor. She's up in her 90s and Sharayah said she's dressed up beautiful each Sunday morning...always has a song and a testimony. Sharayah said she's under 5 ft. and a doll....she is planning to go visit her this week....I hope she finds out more about her story...I'm sure she was a piller saint in her home church. She enjoys the college students bringing church to them in the nursing home.
