Los Olivos, A beautiful mountain top villiage....

We visited the little mountain town of Los Olivos. Darling place hidden high above San Barbara. It began in 1861 as a stagecoach stop between San Franscisco and Los Angeles. This charming historic town of 1,000 residents is located in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. Recognized for its expansive views in the center of Santa Barbara's 50 wineries and horse ranches, it is a rewarding and relaxing village to visit.

The fabulous-famous Montecito Cafe's Coconut Cake...

My daughter loves coconut. I am on the ocean in a darling little sea side village and we drove to Montecito for lunch and were directed to the local favorite...Montecito Cafe. They said their coconout cake was highly recommended and it was definately the best I have had. I am not a coconut lover--but this was awesome!!!

by Jenny Jordan Teets

1/2 C sugar
1 T cocoa
2 T butter
1/4 C milk
1 T light corn syrup
Dash of salt
3/4 to 1 C confectioners' sugar
1/2 t vanilla

Mix sugar and cocoa in saucepan. Stir in butter, milk,
Corn syrup, and salt; bring to full rolling boil. Beat vigorously 3 min., stirring occasionally. Cool. Beat in confectioners' sugar and vanilla.

Aunt Theodora used to put fudge frosting on a yellow cake. Delicious! If you make a two-tiered round cake, you may want to double the frosting recipe.
