Coffee Filters

Who knew! And you can buy 1,000 at the Dollar store for almost nothing, even the large ones. Better than paper towels and a lot less expensive. . .

1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters make excellent covers.

2. Clean windows, mirrors, and chrome. Coffee filters are lint-free, so they'll leave windows sparkling. 3. Protect china by separating your good dishes with a coffee filter between each dish.

4. Protect a cast-iron skillet. Place a coffee filter in the skillet to absorb moisture and prevent rust.

5. Apply shoe polish. Ball up a lint-free coffee filter.

6. Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter.

7. Weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale.

8. Hold tacos. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers for messy foods.

9. Stop the soil from leaking out of a plant holder. Line a plant holder with a coffee filter to prevent the soil from going through the drainage holes.

10. Prevent a popsicle from dripping. Poke one or two holes as needed in a coffee filter.

11. Put a few in a plate and put your fried bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc on them. It soaks out all the grease.

12. Keep in the bathroom. They make great "razor nick fixers."

13. Use as a sewing backing. Use a filter as an easy-to-tear backing for embroidering or appliquéing soft fabrics.

14. Put baking soda into a coffee filter and insert into shoes or a closet to absorb or prevent odors.

15. Use them to strain soup stock and to tie fresh herbs in to put in soups and stews.

16. Use a coffee filter to prevent spilling when you add fluids to your car.

17. Use them as a spoon rest while cooking and clean up small counter spills.

18. Can use to hold dry ingredients when baking or when cutting a piece of fruit or veggies. It saves on having extra bowls to wash.

19. Use them to wrap Christmas ornaments for storage.

20. Use them to sprout seeds. Simply dampen the coffee filter, place seeds inside, fold it and place it into a plastic baggie until they sprout.

21. Use coffee filters as blotting paper for pressed flowers. Place the flowers between two coffee filters and put the coffee filters in phonebook.

22. Use as a disposable "snack bowl" for popcorn, chips, etc.

OH YEAH, THEY ARE GREAT TO USE IN YOUR COFFEE MAKERS TOO!

FUPC Youth Group 25 yr Reunion...class of 80-87

We were blessed to be invited to speak at the reunion of Tom's first Youth Group/Church pastoral ministry experience in DeRidder, Louisiana. He enjoyed his time there starting in 1980 when he graduated from Bible College and was invited by Bro. Glass to become their full time Youth Pastor....until we left in 1987. So many wonderful people there. The "kids" have grown up to be great/successful people and Christians. Was a lot of fun to share old memories, catch up on what is happening now, meet spouses and children and see where everyone has ended up!! What a great time it was. Thanks to Kevin & Suzanne Reeves for heading it up with other members giving their contributions also. Enjoyed our weekend immensely.

How to Handle Stress

Anti-Stress

That we live in an extremely stressful environment is abundantly evident. However, stress is nothing new - it's been around since the beginning. Robert Louis Stevenson made these suggestions over 100 years ago:

1. Make up your mind to be happy - learn to find pleasure in simple things.

2. Make the best of circumstances. No one has everything and everyone has something of sorrow.

3. Don't take yourself too seriously.

4. Don't let criticism worry you - you can't please everybody.

5. Don't let your neighbors set your standards - be yourself.

6. Do things you enjoy doing but stay out of debt.

7. Don't borrow trouble. Imaginary things are harder to bear than actual ones.

8. Since hate poisons the soul, don't cherish enmities and grudges.
Avoid people who make you unhappy.

9. Have many interests. If you can't travel, read about places.

10. Don't hold post-mortems or spend time brooding over sorrows and mistakes.

11. Don't be the one who never gets over things.

12. Keep busy at something. A very busy person never has time to be unhappy.

Hope all of you are having a wonderful Christmas Season! I love this time of year. We are enjoying a lovely time with our Copple family. Everyone is relaxing and enjoying time of conversation and being together. Looking forward to the New Year!!!!

Nashville....National Youth Congress

My daughter Sharayah is having a great time in Nashville at the National Youth Congress....she's called me several times to say what an awesome conference it has been...thank you to the Youth Dept. Staff who work so hard putting this on. I've heard reports there are about 20,000 in attendence.

Joshua is Turning 16 yrs old - August 8th...

My first born son is turning 16 tomorrow. We had a surprise party for him early...so we could.."surprise" him. He usually says not big parties or not much attention...but "16" is a big deal and we wanted to celebrate it.....
