My niece inspires me with her stories of saving half her grocery bill by using coupons. I have been more involved in cutting & saving coupons in the past--but get out of the habit. Since our church is on a journey to improve our spending, saving & financial portfolio...I have a renewed interest in finding good deals and cutting spending in our family.

Our Church has been in a series by Dave Ramsey called Financial Peace University. Living in your budget is very important to having financial peace & leaving a good legacy. Our society has become increasingly more and more enslaved to Credit. We are paying high interests & impulsively buying things we don't need. Robbing our own futures. He has practical steps to help each person get their finances in order.

His recommendation which makes perfect sense is to take care of your basic necessities before you start taking care of your debts: Shelter-Food-Clothing-Health...etc...

**After the necessities for living — food, utilities, shelter, transportation, clothing and health — are covered, anything left over is called “discretionary income”. This can be used to to get rid of debt (or at least those pesky monthly minimums), to invest for long term financial goals, or to spend at will. For additional ideas, here’s how to budget your money by using a simple system....go to daveramsey.com!
